Two actions in the district court for Ramsey county, consolidated for trial and heard together on appeal, one by Mabel Pettit
for damages resulting from the injury of her minor son, Allen Pettit, when he was struck by a truck owned by defendant Russell
R. Lifson, d.b.a. R. & L. Distributing Co., and driven by defendant Sam Schenfeld, and the other by Allen for his personal
injuries. The cases were tried before Kenneth G. Brill, Judge, and a jury which returned verdicts for $9,000 and $19,000 for
Mabel and Allen Pettit respectively. In each case defendants' alternative motion for judgment or a new trial was denied on
the condition that Mabel Pettit consent to a reduction of her verdict to $4,500, which she did. Defendants appealed from the
